Carl the Collector is an animated children’s television series created by Zachariah OHora that premiered on November 14, 2024 on PBS Kids. The series follows a raccoon named Carl who loves collecting things like a plushie and to help problems with best friends. The series is produced by Fuzzytown Productions and Spiffy Pictures with Yowza! Animation handling the animation. It is PBS Kids' very first animated series to be lead by an autistic character.
Premise
editCarl the Collector follows the everyday adventures of Carl, a warm-hearted autistic raccoon who enjoys collecting things and loves his friends and family in Fuzzytown. Carl pays extraordinarily close attention to detail and comes up with unique ideas that others might not consider. These traits have helped him amass his extensive collections—from autographs and bottle caps to fake mustaches, pet rocks, sweaters, and virtually everything in between—which can come in handy for solving problems around the neighborhood with his friends.

Production
editIt was announced in November 2023PBS Kids had begin production on Carl the Collector, a brand-new animated series from Fuzzytown Productions and Spiffy Pictures. This comes from Zachariah OHora, a New York Times bestselling children's author. This is not only the first animated series to feature all of the characters who are on the autism spectrum, but also the first to have an autistic lead character.[1]
thatSpiffy Pictures co-founder Adam Rudman is working on scripts as head writer, and OHora is set to executive produce the series. Advisors on board include Dr. Geraldine Oades-Sese, a licensed child psychologist and kids book author; and Stephen Shore, an autistic professor of special education at New York’s Adelphi University.
