Cecilia Davies was a Gambian politician.[1]
Davies was one of the first women in The Gambia to become involved in a political body. She was one of the first two women, along with Hannah Forster, to be elected to a Gambian legislature. The two defeated eight male candidates in the October 1946 elections to the Bathurst Town Council (the predecessor of today's Banjul City Council) in the Soldier Town Ward district of the Gambian capital.
A few years earlier, Hannah Mahoney had been a member of the Bathurst Advisory Town Council, but she had not been elected to office.
