1936-1965
edit- 1936 - The Chapman Manufacturing Company was established in John Chapman's garage in the small town of Durham, Connecticut. Chapman tools were sold in converted eyeglass cases
- 1939-1945 - The U.S. Government marked Chapman[1] sets with a price ceiling to prevent price gouging during WWII [2]
- 1953 - Six Chapman tool sets were purchased for use on the Nautilus submarine, the first nuclear powered submarine
1966-2012
edit- 1966 - William LeVee purchases Chapman Manufacturing and moves the business from John Chapman's garage to a building down the road
- 1967 - Chapman tools were featured in Popular Science magazine, being called "A jewel among tools[3]"
- 1970 - Mr. LeVee expands the business further and starts packing Chapman tools in the iconic red leather cases
- 1989 - A Chapman set is seen in the movie The Package starring Gene Hackman and Tommy Lee Jones
