Charles "Chaz" Wallace Nuttycombe III (born May 24, 1999) is an American election forecaster who predicts state legislative seats in the United States. In 2020, he founded and became the Director of CNalysis.
Early life
editNuttycombe was born in Newport News, Virginia on May 24, 1999. He graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2024, with an undergraduate degree in political science.
Career
editNuttycombe began predicting elections in 2017 when he released his predictions for the 2017 Virginia elections for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and House of Delegates on his Twitter account and on Decision Desk HQ. In the 2018 midterm elections, he continued predicting state legislative elections as a hobby after graduating high school. In 2019, he successfully predicted 99/100 Virginia House of Delegates seats and 38/40 Virginia State Senate seats. In 2020, he founded CNalysis with friends from "election Twitter," becoming the only website in the country dedicated to forecasting state legislative elections.
In 2021, Nuttycombe submitted his final predictions for the 2021 Virginia elections, successfully predicting a Glenn Youngkin victory in the race for Virginia Governor and a 52-48 Republican-led Virginia House of Delegates, but missing the mark in the races for Virginia Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, which he had Democrats as slight favorites to win. In 2022, his state legislative forecasts at CNalysis successfully predicted 96.6% of state legislative seats within single-member-district-only chambers.[1] In 2023, the CNalysis forecasts for Virginia successfully predicted 140/140 seats correctly in the 2023 Virginia General Assembly elections[2][3].
