Chidi Ajufo is a British actor and former professional basketball player.[1] He is known for roles including Curtiz in the Netflix Original Blood Red Sky, Bunny in The Gentlemen (2019 film), Sergeant Logan Akua in the science fiction action film Doom: Annihilation, and Cuddy in the CBS television series Training Day (TV series).
Early life
editChidi was born in London and raised in Nigerian. He started off as a basketball player, earning scholarships in the U.S. and playing for the likes of UC Santa Barbara and Azusa Pacific University.[2]
Career
editChidi transitioned into acting while living in Los Angeles.
He landed scripted roles and appeared in Angie Tribeca on TBS (American TV channel) starring Rashida Jones, the TV drama-series Training Day (TV series) on CBS starring the late Bill Paxton, and the mini-series The Widow (TV series) starring Kate Beckinsale.
In 2017, Chidi played the role of Jim Brewer (basketball) in the historical Russian sports drama titled Three Seconds (titled Going Vertical in Russia). The film grossed $60M, making it the highest-grossing modern Russian film of all time.[3]
In 2019, he landed the role of Sergeant Logan Akua in the video game to film adaptation, Doom: Annihilation. That same year, he landed the role of Bunny[4] in Guy Ritchie’s action-comedy The Gentlemen (2019 film) acting alongside Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, and Hugh Grant.
Chidi also starred in the Netflix movie titled Blood Red Sky where he played the character Curtiz. Netflix reported the film was watched by 50 million members over its first four weeks of release in July 2021, making it the most successful German original title to date.[5]
Chidi appears in the movie Gladiator 2 which is out late 2024.[6]
