Christien New (born Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a Malaysian entrepreneur and actor. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of NewX Energy, PT Bintan Power Plant Group founder and chairman, and owner of Best Power Ventures. He was also cast in Mark Tan's film Jarum Halus.[1][2][3]

editNew was born to an Indonesian father and a Hong Kong-Japanese mother in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[1][2] He holds two master's degrees in international business and finance[citation needed].[1][2]

editNew has worked on corporate stints in the United States and Singapore. In 2000, he returned to Malaysia to join Konsortium Logistik as the senior vice president.[1]
He is the chairman and owner of Bintan Power Plant Group (PTBPP), an energy provider in Southeast Asia. Founded by New in 2002, PTBPP operates multiple power plants and generates electricity for approximately 120 million people in the region. As of 2019, the company has a net worth valued at US$850m.[1]
NewX Energy, founded by New, is a blockchain-based venture dedicated to the energy sector. It offers substantial monthly electricity subsidies, aligning with a philanthropic vision to address global energy challenges. NewX Energy has a joint venture with PTBPP for a $2.6 billion technology infrastructure project.[4] It became the world's first energy company to Launch an NFT series[citation needed].
He also has experience in government-to-government projects, and initial public offerings (IPO)[citation needed].

editIn 2008, New hosted and produced the television show Christien Lavin, Celebrity’s Secrets. editHe made his film debut in Jarum Halus. New portrayed the character Othello in a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's famous play, Othello, where his role was re-imagined as Daniel.
