editIt was announced in April 2023 that Austin Butler was cast to star in an adaptation of Don Winslow's novel, and would also serve as a producer. A search for a director and screenwriter was ongoing at the time.[1] In April 2024, Justin Kuritzkes was hired to write the screenplay.[2]
