Mike Bayer (born September 19, 1979) is an American life coach, author, and CEO of CAST Centers,[1] a treatment and wellness center located in West Hollywood, California, and Alamosa, Colorado. He is known for his work in the fields of addiction recovery and mental health, as well as for his appearances on the Dr. Phil television show. Bayer is a member of the Dr. Phil Advisory Board, providing insights on mental health and wellness.[2]
Early Life
editMike Bayer was born in Long Beach, California, and grew up in Laguna Hills, California. He attended Mater Dei High School, where he was involved in basketball and served as team captain. Although recruited to play basketball at Fordham University, Bayer did not pursue an athletic career,[3] citing personal challenges during his youth, including struggles with addiction. His early experiences with substance abuse would later shape his career in addiction recovery and counseling.
Education and Early Career
editAfter seeking treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, Bayer studied Alcohol and Drug Counseling at Metropolitan State University. He completed internships at Hazelden Center for Youth and Families and Progress Valley Treatment Center. He later became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC II) and a Board Registered Interventionist Supervisor (BRI II).[4] Bayer worked for several years as a counselor and interventionist, providing support to individuals with addiction and mental health challenges.
Career
editIn 2006, Bayer founded CAST Centers, a facility that offers mental health and addiction treatment services. The center focuses on dual diagnosis treatment, addressing both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Bayer's work has gained attention in the mental health field, particularly through his appearances on Dr. Phil, where he provides guidance on personal development and mental wellness.
