The Cornforth Medal is an Australian scientific award presented annually by the board of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) for the best PhD thesis in chemistry completed at an Australian university.[1] The medal honours the work of Sir John Cornforth, Australia's only Nobel laureate in chemistry, and features a bronze relief with the inscription “For a Thesis on Chemical Research”.[1] Several recipients of the Cornforth Medal have later been awarded the RACI Rennie Memorial Medal for early-career researchers, including Michelle Coote (2000, 2006),[2] Deanna D'Alessandro (2006, 2014),[3] and Lara Malins (2015, 2022).[4]
