Crisosto Apache is a Native American poet who wrote multiple books and poems.

Background:

Born in 1971 in Mescalero, New Mexico ^[1], Crisosto is Mescalero Apache, Chiricahua Apache, and Diné (Navajo) of the 'Áshįįhí (Salt Clan) born for the Kinyaa'áanii (Towering House Clan). They got a Master of Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts. They taught classes like English, literature, and creative writing.

Work:

They wrote two books: Genesis and Ghostword (the lost alphabet). Currently working on publishing Two-spirit and Indigiqueer poetry, releasing in 2025. This is their first work dedicated to Indigenous LGBTQ+ poets. Crisosto is known for their work with gender identities and the fine line between both genders, as well as discussing the history of gender in Native American communities.

They are currently an editor-at-large for The Offing Magazine. Crisosto currently lives in the Denver metro area of Colorado.
