Cyrus Pan Walther (born 1999) is a German physicist. He specializes in gamma-astronomy and focusing on international early-career and youth engagement. Since September 2022, he serves as the President of the International Association of Physics Students.[1]
He is an elected member of the Executive Committee of Committee on Data of the International Science Council, representing the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.[2]
Furthermore, Cyrus Pan Walther is a Fellow of the International Science Council.[3][4]
He currently performs his studies at Technical University of Dortmund with focus on Astroparticle physics.
Education
editCyrus Pan Walther completed his Abitur as well as his International Baccalaureate at Leibniz-Gymnasium Dortmund International School in 2017. He went on to study Physics at TU Dortmund University and completed his Bachelor degree in 2020 with a focus on high-energy particle accelerator physics. Pursuing a Master's degree at TU Dortmund University, he studied one semester at the Czech Technical University in Prague, before returning to his home university and focusing on the study of high-energy gamma-ray astronomy with methods of Deep Learning, in which he currently performs his thesis work.
In December 2023, Walther was appointed to the Fellowship of the International Science Council, that "recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the promotion of science as a global public good". [3][4]
