Damian Durski (born 28 December 1997) is a Polish professional basketball player for Górnik Wałbrzych of the Polish Basketball League.
Youth Career
editDurski started his career in Gornik Walbrzych's youth teams. Initially, the guard was far from being considered at the top of his class, struggling with asthma. He was a member of the team that finished 4th in the U14 Polish Basketball Championships. In 2015, the U18 Gornik upsets Trefl Sopot 84:74 and, later on, advanced to the Final Eight. Durski scored 27 points, added 7 rebounds and 7 assists against Trefl. Sopot's roster included the future Polish National Team members Łukasz Kolenda and Michał Kolenda. Professional Career
editDurski debuted on January 24, 2015, during Gornik's loss 58:69 against Polonia Leszno (tier-3 league). In 2018, Gornik advanced to tier-2 league, finishing 2nd. Durski was a starter, averaged 11.2 pts, 4.9 reb and 2.3 ast. Prior to 2023-24 season, head coach Andrzej Adamek moved Durski from his natural shooting guard position to point guard. Due to personal disagreement, club had parted ways with Francis Jonathan Han, team's starting point guard. In result, Durski was named the starting point guard, Gornik's focal point and the I Liga Finals MVP, leading to 3-1 win over Astoria Bydgoszcz that secured the promotion to Polish Basketball League, a tier-1 basketball competition in Poland. Gornik Walbrzych has returned to top flight after 15 years.
Durski has spent his entire career in his hometown team and had become the fan's favorite.
