Dark Beauty is the upcoming debut studio album by South African singer and songwriter Lundon Hill. It is set to be released in 2026, through Arielle and Cry Out Loud, and marks his first installment of his trilogy project, Hill wrote and produced the album with his closefriend Melanie Styles and his half-sister Kristen Hall.

Background
editLundon Hill was born in Fish Hoek, Cape Town and was raised in Quigney, East London. Hill was born half-deaf in his right ear. At the age of 13, Hill began growing facial hair and revealed that he has hirsutism. At the age of 14, Hill began writing songs for other recording artists. Hill was born when his mother was 18 years old. His family had financial troubles throughout his childhood. His mother struggled to provide for the family. Hill signed a contract for songwriting gigs at 14 and sold all of his songs, making $700 per month. In his 12 years of schooling, he attended 2 different schools in the Fish Hoek, Cape Town and Quigney, East London areas. At 15 Hill joined a soul band called, Fairy Garden. Writing and composing only two songs before leaving the band in October 2022, to join a hip hop soul band called, Us+Him. Writing only four songs before their disband in September 2024.
Writing
editHill started writing songs for Dark Beauty in October 2023 with songwriters and producers Melanie Styles, his closefriend and creative partner and Kristen Hill, his half-sister. Hill and Styles originally met in Fish Hoek and they were both working for the same photographic magazine company and they wrote songs for other recording artists. Hill spent more time with Styles, introducing her to his sister, while connecting creatively through their respective songwriting, which led the partnership for Dark Beauty. For the album, Hill wrote his lyrics to complement Styles' ideas for music. Occasionally, they wrote songs together by improvising musical ideas from Kristen's keyboard and guitar playing. Dark Beauty was written in less than two weeks, according to the singer. Although Hill had artistic freedom for the project, he felt more confident as a songwriter for Dark Beauty and typed his lyrics on his iPhone 8 rather than composing in his head. Since transitioning from writing for other artists, he had been influenced by his "whiteless painful black life" when writing songs. For his lyrics, Hill used both his past personal experiences and imagination to compose narratives for songs.
