Dennis Wise is an American golf course designer.
Early Life
editDennis Wise grew up in Urbandale, Iowa. From a young age, he had a passion for golf and landscape design. He pursued his formal education in landscape architecture at Iowa State University, where he developed the foundational skills that would later define his career in golf course design.
Career
editWise began his career in golf course design in 1979, working with Larry Packard in Chicago. In 1985, he joined Tom Fazio's firm in Jupiter, Florida, where he eventually led and managed a design team from Fazio's only satellite design studios in Kansas City and Phoenix. During his tenure at Fazio Golf Course Designers, Wise was responsible for numerous prestigious projects, including Gozzer Ranch Golf & Lake Club, which was named Best New Private Course by Golf Digest in 2008..[1][2]
In 2013, he founded his own design firm, Dennis Wise Golf Course Design, with his first solo project being the redesign of the Makena Golf & Beach Club's North course in Maui, which reopened as a private course in 2016[3]
In addition to his solo projects, Wise has collaborated with Discovery Land Company on several developments, contributing to the company's reputation for luxury residential communities and top-tier golf courses.[1][3]
