John Stella was born in Santa Ana California on Aug 16 1979. Being the youngest of 5 children he looked up to his older brothers. The oldest brother Anthony Stella was a bass player for an 80s punk band named Just Because. Influenced by the aggressive nature of that genre, John decided to take up bass guitar. He went on to form multiple bands in high school in the city of Orange. It was in 2005 where he learned about beat making on his computer.

In 2007 he formed a group in Anaheim CA called The Rebellion with about 7 members to produce for under an independent label named Raising Hell productions. It was at that time when Slip Capone was introduced to Dr. Evo at a party. On the first meeting with Slip, Dr. Evo went over his collection of beats and at that moment he immediately hired Dr. Evo to produce his next album The Golden Gate Bridge. After a few months of recording only a few songs made it out for public consumption. "Chances" was the single that made it to see the light of day.

He met Compton rapper Greydon Square in 2012. To produce on his albums Omniverse Type 3 (2012), Compton Scattering (2017), and a collaboration album for Greydon's project named Low Technology (2017).

Dr. Evo linked up with Long Beach rapper Yung Zeke in 2016 to do a single named “My Niggaz" featuring Snoop Dogg.” This will be the beat that caught Snoop's ear which led to the inevitable relationship/phone call with him. Subsequently, Snoop Dogg would utilize Dr. Evos talent for a major single on his album Neva Left called “Mount Kushmore” which would feature Redman, Method Man, and B-Real from Cypress Hill.

The success of "Mount Kushmore" led to an offer by the digital marketing team at the San Antonio Spurs organization where he was offered a job for the 2017-2018 season to create original exclusive audio for the Home Opener sequence for all 41 home games and on retainer for social media original pieces.

In 2018 Dr. Evo would release a full instrumental album called Funk With Me this album would feature a collaboration with other producers Mofak, Adam Deitch, OhGoshLeotus, Nabeyin, Wesley Curtis and Jairus Mozee, and a feature from Snoop's cousin RBX to intro the album.

In 2018, Snoop would use Dr. Evo again for his EP named 220 for a song called “On the Double.”

In 2024 “Cali 2 Canada” by Snoop Dogg featuring Warren G, was produced by Dr. Evo and mixed by DJ Quik. The song would be featured in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.[2]
