Elaraby Group, an Egyptian family-owned joint stock company, was founded in 1964. It specializes in manufacturing and marketing home appliances and electronics in Egypt and neighboring countries. It started its business in a small store in the Mouski neighborhood, the old commercial district of Cairo, and has now grown to become one of the prominent institutions in the field of trade and industry, with a capital of about one and a half billion pounds.
History
editThe company was founded in 1964 by three brothers, Mohamed Elaraby, Mahmoud Elaraby and Abdelmajid Elaraby, who started its activities in a small store in the Mouski neighborhood, which is the old commercial district of Cairo at that time.[3] Mohamed Ibrahim Elaraby instilled a spirit of loyalty and belonging among employees and took upon himself the task of daily follow-up and monitoring the efficiency of the workflow, while Mahmoud Ibrahim Elaraby took responsibility for planning and setting goals for the development of the business and this outstanding performance was completed by the efforts of Abdelmajid Elaraby. The company's business began to grow and expand thanks to the efforts and dedication of its founders until it turned into one of the largest Egyptian companies. This success was met with praise and appreciation not only on the local level but also internationally, as the group received high recognition from the State of Japan, represented by the Emperor of Japan's award of the “Rising Sun” medal in 2009, in recognition of the prominent role he contributed through his leadership of El Araby Group in developing trade relations between Egypt and Japan over four decades.
