EcoCupid (registered as EcoCupid SG Pte. Ltd.) is an environmental media company based in Singapore that documents and promotes grassroots environmental projects across Southeast Asia. It produces multilingual documentary and written media and runs a platform that connects environmental projects with funders, corporate partners and volunteers.[1][2]
History
[edit]EcoCupid began among fellows of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship, a United States Department of State exchange programme. The founding team, with members from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, developed the project during a 2023 fellowship visit to the United States and received a YSEALI Seeds grant the same year.[3][1] Its first production was a short documentary on air pollution filmed in Chiang Mai, Thailand.[3]
The company was incorporated in Singapore as EcoCupid SG Pte. Ltd. on 9 February 2025.[4]
Activities
[edit]EcoCupid produces short documentary films and written features about environmental initiatives in Southeast Asia, published in several languages, and operates a matchmaking function intended to link grassroots projects with funders, corporate sponsors and volunteers.[1][2] Projects it has documented include an organic-farming initiative in northeastern Thailand, community river clean-up work along the Citarum River in Indonesia, and the Mechai Bamboo School in Thailand.[2][5]
Recognition
[edit]Two EcoCupid short films, Regrow Our Home and Bamboo School, were selected as finalists at the 2024 Changing Climate, Changing Lives (CCCL) Film Festival in Bangkok.[6] The organisation has been profiled by the U.S. Mission to ASEAN as part of its YSEALI Seeds programme.[1]
