Edgardo "Umpek" Zarain Sison is a Filipino businessman and politician serving as vice mayor of Montalban, Rizal since 2022.[1][2]Formerly barangay kagawad, captain[3] of San Rafael and municipal councillor.
Political career
editIn 2007 he entered politics, starting at the barangay level. Running as an independent candidate for Kagawad in Barangay San Rafael, he received the most votes.[citation needed] The following year, in 2008, the then-incumbent Barangay chairman Zaldy Cruz died. Sison unexpectedly became the Barangay Chairman of San Rafael due to the succession rule.[citation needed]
He subsequently won the election for Barangay chairman in 2010. He continued in that role until 2019, when he completed his final term and was no longer eligible to run as Barangay chairman. He then ran for Municipal Councillor, and finished second among the successful candidates for Municipal Councilor.[4]
He won the local election for the Vice-Mayoralty in the May 9, 2022.[5]
