Jeremys Alberto Luciano (Esperanza, Dominican Republic; July 30, 1992), known as Emy Luziano, is a Dominican record producer, songwriter, audio engineer, and music executive.[1] He has worked with artists such as Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Amenazzy, Arcángel, Yailín la Más Viral, Redimi2, Alex Zurdo, Funky, among others.[2] His work has been recognized with multiple gold and platinum certifications from the RIAA.[3]
Early life
editHis musical background emerged from an early exposure to Hip-hop, R&B, Soul, and the music of his local church. His father’s work as a disc jockey connected him with various musical influences, which shaped his style from a young age. His early steps in the industry were tied to Christian music.[4]
During this period, he met a friend in his hometown who was already recording and was one of the few people in his community with access to the internet and a computer. Through this friendship, he discovered his first recording software, such as Sound Forge, which sparked his interest in music creation. Later, he came across Fruity Loops, a tool that allowed him to improve his productions and create more elaborate compositions.
Career
edit2009-2015: Career beginnings
editIn 2009, Emy adopted the pseudonym "Emy The Astronaut",[5] a nickname given to him by those around him due to his creativity and distinctive sound. Shortly after, he formed a musical duo with which they produced and performed several singles.[6][7] Their first mixtape, titled "Antología", included tracks performed by the duo and songs created for various Christian singers.[8]
During those years, he also worked as a producer for artists such as Lors from the group Aposento Alto and participated in the bilingual project "The Great Awakening" by the group Grace Nation, released in 2012.[9] In 2013, he produced the singles "Beautiful Day", which combined elements of pop, dubstep, and electro; as well as "Sigo Aquí," "Keep Living," and "Possible," all of which received positive feedback.[10]
As a result, his musical style began gaining presence in the albums of some of the most renowned Christian music artists, such as "Exterminador Operación Mundial" by Redimi2,[11][12] "De la A a la Z" and "AZ Live" by Alex Zurdo,[13] "Indestructible" by Funky and the single "Mira Lo Que Haz Hecho (Dance Remix)" by Tercer Cielo, among others. Starting in 2014, Emy changed his stage name to Emy Luziano, marking a new chapter in his career.[14]
2016-2019: Rise to Commercial Success
editIn 2016, Emy Luziano was the producer of several hits for Amenazzy, contributing to the artist's rise and the development of reggaeton and latin trap on an international level. Among the singles he produced that year were "Munchies De Mujeres", "Sin Maquillaje" featuring Don Miguelo,[15] "Vas A Repetirlo" and "Voy Después".[16][17]
In 2017, his collaboration with Amenazzy continued with tracks like «Lean» featuring Bad Bunny and «Ayer» featuring Noriel, both of which were certified gold by the RIAA.[18][19] That same year, he also produced the single «Sin Ti» by Alex Zurdo, which was awarded "Spanish Song of the Year" at the 2018 Dove Awards and nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2019 for the album ¿Quién contra nosotros?. These achievements not only solidified his career but also expanded his international reach.
Simultaneously, he worked with new artists such as Flow Mafia,[20] producing tracks like "La Glock" and "El Favorito de los Capos (Remix)" featuring Arcángel and Bad Bunny.[21] He was also involved in the production of "El Final (Remix)" for Goldy Boy, featuring Ozuna.[22] In 2018, he collaborated with Lírico En La Casa on the song "Súbete" featuring Lary Over, which was certified double platinum by the RIAA in 2019, further strengthening his presence in the music industry.[23]
Although in 2019 he participated in the hit "LowKey" by Bryant Myers, he continued working with emerging artists. Among the most notable projects that year were "5 Mujeres" by José Reyes "La Melaza" and Lírico En La Casa,[24] as well as "Vivimo Caro (Remix)" featuring Arcángel, Duki, Eladio Carrión and Jon Z.[25] He also produced the single «No Me Ignores» by Jay Menez, which featured artists like Eladio Carrión, Myke Towers, Cazzu, DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz.[26]
2020-2023: Continued Success and Business Diversification
editIn 2020, Luziano continued his trajectory by producing alongside Jay Menez the tracks "Solo" featuring Rauw Alejandro and "Se Cansó" with Darell. The following year, they collaborated again on "Cuando Bebe" with De La Ghetto, Myke Towers and Lyanno, as well as producing "Solo (Remix)" with Nio García, Amenazzy and Rauw Alejandro. That same year, he also worked with Spanish artist Kidd Keo on the song "Hola Bebé" and reunited with Lírico En La Casa on "Jarabito" featuring Farruko, Lary Over and El Alfa,[27] maintaining his constant presence in the music scene. In 2022, he was part of the production team for the compilation album «Multiplica Mixtape»,[28] released by Warner Music Latina,[29] where he was in charge of producing the single "On The Road" by Kidd Keo, Felp 22, ElPatron970 and Yung Sarria.[30]
Between 2020 and 2023, Emy expanded his career by venturing into executive production. He founded the record labels Luzonic Entertainment and Iris Live Music, strengthening his position in the industry from a business perspective. Both labels represent a prominent roster of Dominican artists and producers, including Angel Dior, Yailin la Más Viral and Flow Mafia.[31]
Despite focusing on his executive role, he also occasionally released music, maintaining his relevance in the scene with songs like "Narcisista" by Yailín la Más Viral,[32] "WAPAE" by 6ix9ine, Lenier, Angel Dior and Bulin 47, "CHICKY TA" by BIA and Yaisel LM, "Rebelde" by YOVNGCHIMI, Yaisel LM and Rodrigo Films, "Boy Boy (Remix)" by Yaisel LM, NLE Choppa and Blessd, as well as "NO LO SÉ" by Kidd Keo,[33] among others.
To close out 2023, Luziano participated as a producer at three prestigious award ceremonies: the 2023 Heat Latin Music Awards, the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards and the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, where some of his work was associated with nominations. [34][35]
2024–Present: Evolution as a Producer-Artist
editIn 2024, Billboard Argentina highlighted Emy Luziano for his significant participation in the Monitor Music Awards, "Producer of the Year" category and also served as a speaker at "Monitor Talks," addressing the challenges of standing out in a saturated market. [36] During his talk, Emy emphasized:
"Originality and authenticity set you apart from the rest, allowing you to create a brand, a distinctive style, and open doors in a competitive and saturated market. Quality is what will make you endure over time."
Currently, Emy Luziano is focused on expanding his career as a producer-artist, with plans to release his own musical projects that represent a new phase in his artistic evolution. In this stage, he will continue collaborating with other artists while taking on a more prominent role in both production and the creation of music videos.
