Comment: In a Wikipedia article, and particularly a biography about a living person, everything should have a reliable source. In this draft, most of the information has no source; for instance the claim in the introduction that he has won awards, and the entire Early life section. Using reliable, independent, and secondary sources to support the information in the draft also serves to show that the person is notable.The sources in the draft are unfortunately not very strong. Including a reference to a production he has been in is fine in order to verify his roles, but imdb is not a source that can be used in Wikipedia (see WP:IMDB for more info on that). And again, there's a lot of info without a source in the career section. To take one example, this source does not contain the information that Hurl was Lynch's first role. This source looks like it is intended to verify the information about Lynch's meeting David Bolger and working with him – but the link leads to a webpage that doesn't even mention Lynch's name!You might find this advice page helpful, in particular the "Relevance" section.The second reason for declining the draft is the tone, which is not quite neutral enough. Eoin Lynch (born 1977)[citation needed] is an Irish actor, voice actor and writer.[citation needed] His career began in theatre performing with Irish companies such as Druid, Barabbas and CoisCeim. He later gained screen acting roles in The Clinic and Single Handed (RTE), Poldark, Ripper Street, Silent Witness (BBC), Scary Tales of New York (HBO). His film works includes The Boxer, O, and The Shamrock Spitfire. He has won several awards for his work on both stage and screen.[citation needed]
Early life
editBorn in Dublin, Lynch grew up in Castleknock. He attended St. Brigid's National School and later St. Declans College in Cabra. After leaving school, Lynch joined the Irish Army for a brief time, but realising it was not the career for him he left and applied to a film studies course in Colaiste Dhulaigh.[citation needed] He was told the course was closed to applicants but that a theatre studies course was still open. Lynch has said that he made up an audition piece and was accepted onto the course.[citation needed] He went on to study at Rose Bruford College where he achieved a degree in European Theatre Arts.
In his youth, Lynch played several sports including basketball, hurling and Gaelic football with St. Declan and St Brigid's GAA Castleknock.[citation needed]
Career
editHis first role was in HURL[1] with Barabbas the Company, from here Lynch met choreographer David Bolger and Lynch went on to work on several productions with Bolger’s CoisCeim dance company.[2][failed verification] In 2005, he began with the Irish theatre company Druid when he performed the role of Jimmy Farrell in JM Synge's The Playboy of the Western World. He then became a member of the DruidSynge[3][failed verification] company which travelled internationally for several years performing the complete works of Synge.[citation needed]
Lynch appeared in two of U2's videos: The Sweetest Thing and Sometimes You can’t make it on Your Own.[citation needed] However, his screen career was really launched in 2007 when he played the role of Robert Staples [4][better source needed] in an episode of The Clinic.[citation needed] He later undertook the role of Matt Riordan[5][failed verification] in Single Handed (2008).
He has gone on to work on Poldark, Silent Witness and The Power.[6] Lynch has acted in several short films, including the award-winning "God Grant Me" and "The Girl with the Mechanical Maiden".[citation needed] In 2024, Lynch took on the role of Brendan Finucane in "The Shamrock Spitfire".[7][failed verification]
He is also a voice-over artist,[8] operating in the UK, Ireland and the US.[citation needed]
Personal life
editIn 2017, Lynch met Aysil Aksehirli at the Curious School of Puppetry where they were both studying. They married in 2022, and live in North London.[citation needed]
