Erin McGoff is an American filmmaker and content creator. She is the founder of AdviceWithErin, a multimedia platform that provides career and workplace education.

Early Life and Education

McGoff was born and raised outside of Washington, D.C. in Silver Spring, Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film & Media Arts, with a minor in Marketing, from American University. During her studies, she spent time abroad in Scotland and Laos, researching and documenting international stories through film.

Career

After graduating, McGoff received a fellowship from the Pulitzer Center to support her debut feature documentary, This Little Land of Mines, which premiered in 2019 and went on to receive critical acclaim. McGoff went on to direct three short documentaries, SOUTHERN SUSTAINABILITY (2018), NEW YORK IS SILENT (Pulitzer Center, 2020), and DARROUZETT, TX (PBS, 2020). McGoff also works as a freelance video editor, collaborating with high-profile clients such as Google, Meta, National Geographic, Under Armour, Hilton, Sony, and more. Her work has earned her a Webby Honoree, three Silver Telly Awards, the Clio Prize for Visualizing History/Advancement for Women in Film, an Impact Doc Award, Reel South Award, and Best Director at DOC LA.

In 2021, McGoff launched AdviceWithErin on social media platforms, providing career advice and insights into workplace psychology through engaging skits and educational videos. Her content focuses on topics like negotiation, workplace communication, and overcoming burnout. By 2023, AdviceWithErin had become a trusted resource for young professionals navigating career challenges with over 6 million followers worldwide. McGoff is also a contributor to CNBC.

In 2023, Erin founded the New York-based production company, Grey Films, and in 2024 premiered her series, No One Knows What They're Doing.

Awards and Recognition

In 2024, Erin was awarded a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 2025 list in the Social Media category. McGoff has also been honored as a Webby Honoree and a VidCon Featured Creator.

Personal Life

McGoff resides in New York City with her husband Michael Ponton.
