The Hermitage and Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Peña (Spanish: La ermita y santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Peña[1]) is a church located in the Vega de Río Palmas valley in the municipality of Betancuria on the island of Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. The hermitage is famous because a tiny alabaster image of the Virgin Mary, known as the Virgen de la Peña [es] (La Peñita), the patron saint of the island of Fuerteventura, is venerated.[2] [3]

The church was paid for by the people of the island and was built in the early years of the 18th century, inaugurated on 26 August 1716. In 1985 it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest, of the category of monument.
