Eugenio Minvielle Lagos, also known as Eugenio Minvielle, (born April 26, 1964) is a Mexican businessman, entrepreneur, and former executive of Nestlé, Unilever, and Sara Lee Corporation in multiple regions.
Eugenio Minvielle Lagos born in Mexico on 26 April 1964, is a prominent business executive and entrepreneur known for his significant contributions in the Food ¬ Beverage and Technology industries. With a career spanning several decades, Minvielle has held key leadership position in major multinational corporations and has played a crucial role in the developments of innovative technologies that address issues related to health, food choices and food wastage.
Personal life
editBeyond his professional accomplishments, Minvielle is known for his passion for golf, which he practiced throughout his high school years; eventually, he became a member of Mexico's national golf team. Minvielle is also a sculptor, creating his first piece in bronze during his high school years.[1]
Early life and education
editMinvielle is the second of four children. He attended Vista Hermosa High School in Mexico City, graduating in 1983. Minvielle received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1986 from the University of North Texas and completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1991 from Harvard Business School[2]. While completing his MBA at Harvard, Eugenio took a summer job with Canon Inc. in Japan.
Career
editUpon completing his MBA in 1991, Minvielle received an offer from [Procter & Gamble]] in Spain to work in the Marketing Group. In 1994, he transitioned to Nestlé Spain, where he led the vending division of the company. Minvielle continue his journey with Nestlé becoming the Vice President for the Food Services Division in Nestlé Mexico.
Following this, he assumed the position of Commercial Director in Venezuela, eventually rising to become President of Nestlé Venezuela. In 2000, Minvielle returned to Mexico to serve as President and CEO of Nestlé Mexico, holding the position for 4 years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in streamlining operation in the Mexican market.
In 2004, Minvielle assumed leadership of Nestlé France, the company's second largest market. In 2008, during his tenure as CEO of Nestlé France, he played a key role in the creation of the Nestlé Foundation France[3] and served as its President.[4]
In 2010, Minvielle became Executive Vice President of Unilever North America, overseeing operations in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.[5][6]
In 2011, Minvielle was acknowledged as one of the Hispanic-Latino leaders running business globally.[7]
In 2012, Sara Lee decided to spin-off its Coffee business via IPO, appointing Minvielle Chief Operating Officer in charge of Developed Markets and International Coffee & Tea, as well as member of the executive committee.[8][9][10][11]
The IPO led to the acquisition the new Coffee business DE Master Blenders 1753[12] by JAB[13], within one year, resulting in a significant increase of more than $3 billion in shareholder value.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
editIn 2013, Minvielle founded Innit,[14] an international company focused on developing a connected food platform.[15] Minvielle founded Innit[16] with the mission to empower consumers with information enabling them to make informed choices about their everyday diet. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Innit boasts a team with expertise in food science, technology and culinary arts. While continuing to build Innit's breakthrough IP portfolio[17], Minvielle is responsible for the innovation, consumer, and customer aspects of the business.[18]
Minvielle is the owner of 20+granted patents, with more than 400+ claims.[19] These patents have revolutionized the Food & Beverage and Technology industry. His patents have been instrumental in improving consumer health, reducing the incidence of illnesses linked to food choices (such as diabetes type 2, hypertension, etc.) and minimizing food wastage which costs billions of US dollar annually.
