Evelyn Lorena is an American actress, writer, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles.[1]
Early life
editLorena grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina.[2] She was interested in performance from a young age, but didn't decide to pursue it as a career until high school.[3] She attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts.[4]
Career
editIn the 2010s, Lorena was a member of the Los Angeles-based theatre company CASA 0101.[5][6] In 2013, she began raising funds to produce a webseries, titled Crash Dance.[7]
Also in the early 2010s, Lorena allowed former classmate Samantha Colicchio to adapt a one-act play she had written into a short film, titled For Her.[8]
In 2021, Lorena received a Latinx Inclusion Fellowship from the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) and Netflix.[9] She used her $20,000 in grant money to finance the production of her short film, Gabriela.[2]
In 2022, Gabriela premiered at LALIFF.[2][4] The film marked Lorena's first project as a director.[2]
