The new facility is expected to be completed within 30 months[4].

History

1995–2000: Early Beginnings

Fidson Healthcare Plc was incorporated in 1995 as a distributor of pharmaceutical products in Nigeria[5]. By the late 1990s, the company had expanded its portfolio, introducing Ciprotab and Peflotab (antibiotics). In 2000, Fidson commissioned its first manufacturing facility, becoming the first Nigerian company to produce Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs), contributing to the local pharmaceutical industry.

2000–2005: Expansion

In the early 2000s, Fidson expanded its manufacturing capabilities and introduced more products into the market such as Astymin, a supplement comprising essential amino acids and multivitamins. In 2005, the company became the first in Sub-Saharan Africa to produce Antiretroviral Drugs (ARVs), providing increased access to HIV/AIDS treatment[6].
