Filmbuster was an intercollegiate media event held in Goa, India, organized by Club Filmatics in association with the Department of Mass Communication of Don Bosco College Panjim on February 28, 2024, at the Don Bosco College Panjim campus.[1][2]

The council members, led by President Devonna Gomes, work together to create events. Under the guidance of Club Filmatics Incharge, Sonika Lotlikar, and with the support of Vice President Joel Rodrigues, the council ensures the smooth execution of initiatives like Filmbuster. Mario Pimenta, in his role as the Media Coordinator, promotes the club and its events, leveraging various media channels to reach a wider audience.[3]

Inaugural Details

The event began with faculty members in charge of Club Filmatics and the Department of Mass Communication escorting the Chief Guest, Rajendra Talak, to the dais. Talak emphasized the importance of learning and creativity in media during his opening speech. An inaugural dance was performed by former Marathi serial child actress, Sakshi Nageshkar.

Several colleges participated in Filmbuster, including St Xavier's College, Mapusa (Team Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and SS Dempo College, Cujira (Team Karan Johar).[5]

Renowned personalities from the film, entertainment, and media industry served as judges alongside faculty members for multidimensional competitions. These included Goan Actor, Salil Naik; Director, Dnyanesh Moghe; Associate Editor and Senior Journalist, Ramnath Pai Raikar; Dancer, Simran Haldankar; Photographer, Aliston Dias; Filmmaker, Prasad Naik; Model, Saisha Prabhu; Creative Director, Vijay Xavier; Footballer, Beckham Veron Xavier; and Social Media Influencer, Flexcia D'Souza.[6]

Press Conference

Club Filmatics, in association with the Department of Mass Communication, organized a press conference on February 26, 2024, to announce Filmbuster. During the press conference, Ms. Sonika Lotliker highlighted the event's significance in promoting media literacy among students. Ms. Devonna Gomes unveiled the lineup of events, and Mr. Mario Pimenta emphasized the role of media in amplifying the club's initiatives.[8]
