The Ahmad Butler Foundation, or ABF originally named Forever Captain Poodaman. The Ahmad Butler Foundation is a charitable nonprofit organization established as an Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) on January 15, 2020. The Ahmad Butler Foundation is named after six-year-old Ahmad "Captain Poodaman" Butler, who aspired to become a Police Officer when he became an adult to "help a lot of people." Ahmad lost his battle with an ependymoma of the brain on November 3, 2015. But his legacy fights on in The Ahmad Butler Foundation; their ongoing mission supports families battling pediatric cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases.

The Ahmad Butler Foundation was founded by his grandmother, Latanya Morrison, who wanted to bring Ahmad's dream of helping a lot of people into reality. The Ahmad Butler Foundation creates programs geared to support the structure of families who have a child or children battling any life-threatening childhood diseases. While also creating programs to support children's hospitals actively treating children battling life-threatening diseases.

The Ahmad Butler Foundation owns the registered trademark for The Fight With Lights against pediatric cancer campaign. A global initiative to raise awareness of the impacts of pediatric cancer by having landmarks, bridges, buildings, and residences illuminated in yellow during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

In September 2019, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) introduced a resolution to recognize September 2019 as "National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" after being inspired by a student at George Washington High School in Charleston, West Virginia. The resolution passed with unanimous consent on September 26, 2019.[1]

A presidential proclamation recognizing National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month was first issued in September 2012 by President Barack Obama.[2] Subsequent proclamations were signed by President Obama in 2015 and 2016.[3][4]

Prior to the proclamation, the United States Senate passed the Allard-Clinton "National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day" Resolution on May 23, 2008. The resolution, introduced by United States Senators Wayne Allard (R-CO) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), recognized September 13, 2008, as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day.[5]

The Fight With Lights is a component of The Coalition of Non-Profits (CNP) 1Million Families March (1MFM) for the Cure of Childhood Cancer. Another trademark owned by The Ahmad Butler Foundation enables nonprofits to unite on a neutral platform in the fight against pediatric cancer.

The Ahmad Butler Foundation strives to fundraise for seed funding for a six-month bill supplement program geared to support families in need battling all life-threatening childhood diseases. In addition to raising government allotment for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
