The Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON) is a distributed community of researchers, institutions, and initiatives, working on the acquisition, integration, analysis, and communication of data on global biodiversity.
GEO BON contributes to the curation of data required to meet the 2050 targets of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and its Global Biodiversity Framework.
The efforts of GEO BON are focused on the development, implementation, and adoption of Essential Biodiversity Variables as a unifying concept for the monitoring of biodiversity globally.
