GS Team is an esports organization founded in Iraq, Baghdad. The idea for its creation began in 2019 and it was officially established in 2021. It was previously known as "Gangsters Esports".
The organization officially began in 2021. The team's first official participation was in the open PUBG Mobile championship in August[1]. From there, the team's journey in tournaments and competitions in the Middle East began. Now, the organization is considered the most popular in Iraq.
The organization currently consists of more than 60 players across various video games, along with 6 coaches and over 20 managers and assistants. They all work together to support and develop the team.[2] The team is composed of players from different countries and regions, competing in various games such as Valorant, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Fortnite, FIFA, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Honor of Kings, Tekken, EA Sports UFC, Rocket League, and others games.
History
editIn May 2021, GS Team was founded by Rasul Faris, who worked on building it with his team. Just three months later, the team participated in the open PUBG Mobile tournaments[1], marking a significant achievement for the team in a short period. Following this success, the organization competed in numerous local tournaments, including the "Yala girls" tournament for Valorant, where they secured second place[3][4]. Shortly after, the PUBG Mobile female roster qualified for the PMNC EGYPT 2022 tournament held in Egypt[5], achieving a good position.
The organization continued its participation in local and regional tournaments until the PUBG Mobile roster qualified for the PUBG Mobile Regional Clash 2023 - MEA VS Europe tournament[6], held in Saudi Arabia. In this tournament, our team was nurtured by Zain Group[7], enabling them to achieve an advanced position. The organization has continued to participate in various local, regional, and international tournaments up to the current moment." The latest participation was in the LEAGUE ROCKET ZAIN'S TOURNAMENT 2024, where GS Team secured first place without a single loss[8]. Additionally, a technological partnership was formed between GS Team and the brand ZXT, providing computer equipment, aiming to expand opportunities and enhance technical performance and esports in Iraq.[9]

- First place in the INFINIX MOBILE PUBG TOURNAMENT[10] held in the north of Iraq in Sulaymaniyah Governorate. - First place in the DOPAMINE EVENT PUBG MOBILE[11] tournament held in the capital Baghdad.
- First place in ZAIN'S MAJOR COMPETITIONS TEKKEN 7[12][13] tournament, which took place in the capital Baghdad.
- First place in ZAIN'S LEAGUE ROCKET TOURNAMENT[14] held in the capital Baghdad.
- Second place in the PUBG MOBILE CLUB OPEN - MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA 2023[15], a global tournament gathering the Middle East and Africa.
- Second place in the YALLA GIRLS VALORANT 2022[16] tournament in the game Valorant, held in the capital Baghdad.
- Third place in the EARTHLINK EFOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2024[17] tournament in the game EFootball, also held in the capital Baghdad.
