Comment: Based upon his GS profile his h-factor is 46 with 6K citations. For me that is a little low for the Wikipedia notability in WP:NPROF, so I think you need to wait a couple of years. The awards that you include are not that major, and we do not consider $$$ grants such as the Sloan to be major.Please also look at how other pages are formatted before you write another one. Gary A. Sulikowski is an American organic chemist and professor at Vanderbilt University. He is Stevenson Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University.[1]
Sulikowski is a member of the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology[2], where he has served as director and faculty director of the Chemical Synthesis Core from 2017-2024.[3] [4]
Early life and education
[edit]Sulikowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Wayne State University.[1] [5]He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. [1][5]
He completed his postdoctoral research at Yale University as an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow. [1][5]
Career
[edit]Sulikowski began his academic career in 1991 as a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University.[1] He became professor of chemistry in 2001.[6]
He joined the Department of Chemistry at Vanderbilt University during in 2004 as professor of chemistry and a member of the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology. [1][5]
Additionally, Sulikowski is a member of the Vanderbilt's Chemical Biology Interface Training Program.[7]
Research
[edit]Sulikowski’s research involves the design and development of chemical syntheses of complex molecules, and bioactive natural products and molecular probes.[5] [6][8] Chemical synthesis has been described as a central science, and its practice provides access to chemical strucutres of known and/or designed function, in which human health is greatly impacted as it can lead to new therapeutics. [9][10]
Research assisted by Sulikowki's lab includes, Microbial Vampires Shrink from Light, led by Dr. Eric Skaar, where a molecule was identified through the VICB's High-Throughput Screening Facility in collaboration iwth Sulikowski's lab.[11][12]
Honors and awards
[edit]Sulikowski has received an American Cancer Society Junior Faculty Fellowship, an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, an American Cyanamid Award, and an Eli Lilly Research Award. [1]
He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2008.[1] He has also received a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellowshipin 2003, and was a Texas A&M Faculty Fellow from 2002 to 2007. [1]
