Gavin Pepper is an Irish far-right politician and taxi driver who was elected to Dublin City Council in June 2024 as an independent.[1] He is standing in the 2024 Irish general election in the Dublin North-West constituency.[1] Pepper built his profile through posts on social media against immigration, employing the Ireland is full rhetoric.[2] He has called for mass deportations of migrants, opposed sex education for children, opposed hate speech legislation and supported Enoch Burke.[3]
In October 2024 Dublin City Council Chief Executive announced that Pepper was under investigation for breaching the code of ethics of local government after allegedly making a threatening phone call to fellow councillor Conor Reddy of People Before Profit.[4] Pepper then claimed in a council sitting that Reddy believed their constituents were "racists and fascists", leading Reddy to lodge a second complaint against Pepper's conduct as slander.[5]
Pepper stood in the 2024 Irish general election in the Dublin North West constituency, and was eliminated after six counts.[6]
