George Svanidze (Georgian: გიორგი სვანიძე; born 7 April 1971) is a Georgian businessman and philanthropist.
Biography
editGeorge Svanidze graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering of the Technical University of Georgia in 1993. He studied at Dention College (Netherlands) in 1998 as well and studied Business Communications at Berlitz College (Chicago, USA) in 2003.[1]
George Svanidze was the first to bring an olive culture to Georgia and took the position of chairman of the International Olive Council in 2019–2021. He is the president of the Georgia-Saudi Business Council, the Georgia-Indonesia Business Association and Georgia-Japan Business Associations. In 2019 he was advisor to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.[2]
He is an active philanthropist. He built and restored a number of churches and monastery complexes, as well as housing for disabled children. He donated to orphanages.[1]
He speaks Georgian, English, Russian and Dutch languages.[1]
He is married and has three children.[1]
