The Gold Dinner is an annual invitation-only charity gala held in Sydney, Australia, in support of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF). Since its establishment in 1997, the Gold Dinner has raised almost $200 million.
Background
[edit]The Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF), established in 1986, is the principal fundraising body for both the Sydney Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital at Westmead.[1] The Gold Dinner was established in 1997 as an invitation-only event, restricted to approximately 400 guests drawn from Sydney's philanthropic, business, and cultural communities.[1] Previous venues have included a gold-themed marquee situated on the tarmac of Sydney Airport, Sydney Town Hall and the Royal Botanic Garden.[1][2]
The evening typically features a dinner, live auction, entertainment, and speeches from medical staff and beneficiaries; the 2024 Gold Dinner featured a performance from Tones and I. Attendees and supporters have included Chris Hemsworth, Simon Baker and Rose Byrne.[1]

[edit]The 2023 Gold Dinner, which raised $19.2 million,[1] was held at Sydney Town Hall and attended by New South Wales premier Chris Minns.[3] The largest single pledge was a $5 million donation made by Gina Rinehart's family on behalf of Hancock Prospecting.
2024
[edit]The 2024 Gold Dinner was held on 1 May 2024.[1] It raised $33.4 million, with the largest single gift being a $10.5 million pledge from the Kids with Cancer Foundation.[4] Kristina Keneally, the SCHF CEO, described the funds as marking a "historic moment" for paediatric care in New South Wales.[1]
The 2024 Gold Dinner committee was co-chaired by Joshua Penn and Linda Penn, with committee members including James Auswild, Alina Barlow, Sophie Curtis, Alessandra Eddy, Katie Evans, Benita Kam, Bernadette Nassif, Kristy Nassif Elias, Kannon Rajah, Bryce Sceresini, Nicholas Smart and Monika Tu.[1]
2025
[edit]The 2025 Gold Dinner was held on 11 June 2025, raising a record $84.3 million.[5] A live auction was held, with items including lunch with the dinner's global ambassador, Miranda Kerr,[6] and a private in-home chef experience with Neil Perry.[5]
2026
[edit]The 2026 Gold Dinner was held on 4 June 2026, raising $75.5 million.[7]
