Reception

edit

David Pierce and Jennifer Pattison Tuohy of The Verge gave an 9/10 score, saying, “Google’s new take on the Chromecast is its best attempt at a streaming device yet.” They point that the device doubles as a streaming device and a smart home hub which integrate with Google’s smart home ecosystem, allowing control of devices like lights and cameras through the TV. However, the review mentions limitations, such as Wi-Fi 5 and less processing power compared to other premium options.[3] Mike Prospero of Tom’s guide gave an 4.5/5 score, saying “The Google TV Streamer is a completely redesigned streaming device”. However “it’s twice as expensive as the previous generation”[4]
