Charles Batchelor (born August 9th, 1993), better known as Grian is a British Youtuber and gamer.[1][2] He is primarily known for his Minecraft videos.[3][4] Batchelor's youtube channel, which he started in 2009, has amassed over 8 million subscribers and 2.5 billion views as of 2024.[5]

Early life
editGrian was born in Hertfordshirt, England.[3] He moved to Japan at the age of seven.[7][2]
Career
editWhile Batchelor started his channel in 2009, his channel didn't grow until 2014. In 2015, the Grian channel hit 1,000 subscribers.[7]
Batchelor was invited to the YouTube channel CraftedMovie in 2011, he was apart of the YouTube channel from 2011 to 2015. Batchelor was a set builder for the channel. Batchelor eventually appeared in the videos due to popular demand. In the videos he starred as his own character, his skin was a rendition of Link from Zelda. After a decline in views, the CraftedMovie team decided to focus on other projects. [7]
Batchelor co-founded the massive Minecraft MMORPG, Wynncraft.[8][9] Wynncraft led to a permanent end to CraftedMovie.[7] Wynncraft led to the rapid growth of Batchelor's Youtube channel and is one of the things he is most known for.[7][4] Wynncraft was wildly successful.[7]
In 2018, Batchelor was invited and joined the minecraft YouTuber server, Hermitcraft. Batchelor joined Hermitcraft during Hermitcraft season 6.[2][7] As of 2024, Batchelor is still active on Hermitcraft.[10]
Batchelor co-hosted a charity live stream for the children's charity, SOSAfrica in May, 2020.[11] He co-hosted the charity live stream again on May 1st, 2021 for the same charity.[12]
Personal Life
editBatchelor got engaged to his long-time girlfriend in August, 2019 and got married her on August 15th, 2020.[2][7]
