Headway is a UK charity that promotes understanding of brain injury and provides support to people with brain injuries.

History

Headway was registered as a charity in 1980,^[1] provides support and guidance to a network of locally-run groups and branches, operates a helpline, charity shops, an emergency fund, and the Headway Brain Injury Identity Card.

Princess Diana was a patron of the charity from 1991 to 1996. She announced her withdrawal from public life at the Headway lunch in 1993.^[2]^[3] Prince Harry opened the charity's new headquarters in Nottingham in 2013 and launched the Brain Injury Identity Card in 2017.^[4]
