About Healthwords.ai

edit

Healthwords.ai is a UK-based artificial intelligence company focused on self-care solutions in the health and wellness sector. The company was founded by a pair of British pharmacists.[1]. The duo conceived the idea for a consumer health business at the ages of 18 and 19, respectively, after meeting and becoming housemates during their first week at university.

Under the mentorship of their professor, they were encouraged to investigate how emerging technologies could disrupt traditional consumer health and wellness markets. The professor posited that as technology became more accessible, individuals would become increasingly aware of the factors impacting their health and wellness, leading to a greater desire for active participation in their own health care.

In response to this predicted shift in consumer behaviour, the founders of Healthwords.ai began developing technology-based solutions to address common issues related to medicine and health information. Their central question, "How can we modernise self-care in the health and wellness space?" guided the formation and direction of the company

History of the Company

edit

In 2016, Healthwords.ai released Caidr, an AI-powered tool. Caidr 1.0 featured a symptom checker, and type 1 medical device under the MHRA designed to provide users with reliable health and wellness information for informed self-care. Additional features included product recommendations and a section dedicated to safe personal health resources.

In 2020, Caidr 2.0 was launched with a redesigned user interface and video content providing health and wellness information. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, this version included specific advice and resources related to the outbreak. It also featured an expanded content library and a new image-based interface for dermatology symptom self-care.

Caidr 3.0, released in 2021, introduced Caidr Search as its main feature. This version extended the capabilities of Caidr's content platform to mobile devices. It utilised an architecture designed by a team of pharmacists and doctors with over 250 years of combined experience in patient care. The natural language content processor enabled dynamic, system-wide updates to over 374,000 words of content in under 0.5 seconds.

In 2022, it was announced Caidr 4.0, a web platform for Caidr Search. This version used a medical lexicon of over 97,000 terms across nine medical specialties, allowing the natural language processor to create customised feeds of trusted health content.

In 2023, Healthwords.ai introduced a new feature: a conversational AI personal assistant. This assistant, trained on Healthwords.ai's self-care advice, enables users to explore their health and wellness using advanced artificial intelligence[2]
