Henry Doornberg is a Canadian architectural lighting designer and electrical engineer based in Calgary, Alberta.[1][2]
Background
editHenry Doornberg first studied electrician at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (class of 1986) and subsequently obtained a degree in engineering at the University of Alberta. Doornberg has sat on the board of the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society, Alberta Chapter, serving as treasurer in 2010 and executive in 2012.[3][4] In 2011, Doornberg was employed with Hemisphere Engineering.[5][6] In 2020, Doornberg was interviewed by CTV News regarding his involvement with lighting design for the Telus Sky building in downtown Calgary.[7]
Awards
editThe Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) has given Illumination Design Awards to Henry Doornberg on two occasions, first in 2001 for Doornberg's lighting design of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Calgary and again in 2004 for his lighting design of the TC Energy head office.[8]
Personal life
editIn 1989, Doornberg was vocal about freedom of speech in The Gateway newspaper.[9]
