Submission declined on 16 September 2024 by DoubleGrazing (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Submission declined on 14 May 2024 by Notcharizard (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Notcharizard 6 months ago. |
- Comment: We don't refer to people by first name only; please change to full name, last name only, or personal pronoun. DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:21, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The only secondary source here is The Guardian, and it alone is not enough to establish notability per WP:GNG. DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:21, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Hilary Evans-Newton is Chief Executive of Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity[1], and Co-Chair of the UK government’s national dementia initiative[2], the Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Mission.
Career
editBefore joining Alzheimer’s Research UK, Hilary worked at Age UK, then known as Age Concern, as Government Affairs Manager. Her role was focused on improving the lives of people in later life both in the UK and internationally.[3]
Hilary was appointed Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Research UK in 2015. During this time, the charity has become one of the leading medical research charities in the UK.[4]
In her role as Chief Executive, Hilary has focused Alzheimer’s Research UK on projects to establish collaborations between the charity, academic and private sectors. This has included setting up the Drug Discovery Alliance[5] supporting the launch and development of the Dementia Discovery Fund; and working with government and other charities to create the UK Dementia Research Institute.
In March 2023, Hilary was appointed as Co-Chair[6] of the Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Mission, which aims to double research funding and speed up the development of new treatments for dementia and neurodegenerative conditions. The Mission was established in honour of the late Dame Barbara Windsor and those who have been affected by dementia.
Hilary is a Trustee of the Association of Medical Research Charities[7], a member of the World Dementia Council[8] and holds an honorary doctorate in medicine from The University of Exeter.[9]
Personal life
editHilary lives near Cambridge with husband, Jack Evans-Newton, and their three children.[10]
