Hong Kong Academy of Medicine is a statutory body being responsible for postgraduate medical education (medical / dental specialist training, continuing medical education and continuous professional development) in Hong Kong. Its powers are laid out in the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 419), Regulations and Bylaws.[1]
Medical or dental practitioners in Hong Kong who wished to be qualified as medical / dental specialists and listed on the Specialist Register of Medical Council of Hong Kong or Dental Council of Hong Kong should hold the Fellowship conferred by the Academy after no less than 6 years of specialist training and passing relevant examinations and assessment[2][3]. To keep their names on the Specialist Registers, Academy Fellows are required to obtain certain academic points in every 3-year cycle and fulfill certain requirements. Participation in CME / CPD events organised or accredited by the Academy is one of means to obtain CME / CPD points:[4][5][6].
