"Hot Uptown" is a song by American singer Camila Cabello featuring Canadian rapper Drake. It was released through Geffen and Interscope Records on July 5, 2024, as the third single from her fourth studio album C,XOXO.

Background and composition

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Camila Cabello said:

I DMed him and then I played him my album and he f—d with it. I sent the idea for 'Hot Uptown,' and I wrote my part. I sent it back to him, and we chopped it to it felt like a duet. Then when he re-worked on his parts again, he gave me an outro which was the 'UUUgly' part. It's a twofer because he didn't really need to give me an outro, but for me, it's like I don't want to hear a song like 'Hot Uptown' and then have it go into this one minute thing where he is talking his s—, so we decided to just make it another song.[1]

"Hot Uptown" sees Cabello and Drake "attempt to forget their past lovers", but "they can't help but find themselves wrapped up in the memories".[2]

Critical reception

Nick Levine of NME said "the hypnotic dancehall of 'Hot Uptown' belongs on a different album".[3] Isabella Sanford of Earmilk said it "is a great track that deserved more recognition", additionally commenting that it "captures the Miami vibe with its vibrant instrumentation, and unlike some of the other songs on the album, it feels polished and fully conceptualized."[4]
