Submission declined on 31 August 2024 by Aaron Liu (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

- Comment: Being a mayor of a city doesn't meet WP:NPOL. Only the NOWNews source has significant coverage that isn't just summarizing what he says (intellectual independence is a notability criterion), so this fails general notability as well.I would also heavily recommend that you crop the unflattering portrait to only include his head and shoulders if you can't find a better image. I think he's reaching out to slap me. Aaron Liu (talk) 19:19, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

Huang Jian-jhong (Chinese: 黃健忠; Wade–Giles: Huang2 Chien4-chung1; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: N̂g Kiān-tiong; born 10 October 1976), or Huang Chien-chung,[1] is a Taiwanese politician who has served as the mayor of Magong since 2022. A member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Huang was previously chairman of the party's Penghu County Office Committee.
Early years
editHuang was born in Wukan Village in Magong, Penghu. He attended the National Penghu Institute of Technology.[2]
Magong mayoralty
editHuang was actively involved in Penghu local politics, previously serving as president of the Wukan Community Development Association. In 2016, he was elected within the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as the chairman of its Penghu County Office Committee.[2][3] He received the DPP nomination for mayor of Magong in 2018,[4] though he ultimately lost that race.
Huang was elected mayor in 2022, the same year that his DPP colleague Chen Kuang-fu was elected magistrate of Penghu.[5]
In April 2023, Huang attended a community event as part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare "community flagship" program, where each village community in a county is assigned a policy priority; if a community implements a successful program, then it is elevated to a "flagship community" and its program replicated in other communities. Under Huang's term, Chaoyang Village kicked off with social safety net, and other communities were assigned priorities such as women's welfare, immigrant welfare, substance abuse prevention.[6]
In September 2023, Huang signed a joint declaration with Fengbin chief Chiu Fu-shun Hualien County to establish a sister city partnership between the two localities.[7]
In November 2023, Huang announced 19 major initiatives in his mayoral general report, including disaster prevention and management, infrastructure, and cultural and creative industries.[8]
Personal life
editHuang and former Magong mayor Ye Jhu-lin are cousins.[9]
