editThe song has been described as post-hardcore, emo, and alternative rock. Frontman Kellin Quinn stated “The song is about love and basically, like the struggle, the joy, the longing. I wrote it when I was away from my girlfriend and I wanted to let her know that it didn’t matter whatever happened between me, the band, and or anything else in life, that things happen for a reason and that things will last if you put your heart into it.”
