The Institute Technical Council (ITC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is the central body dedicated to advancing the technical landscape among students on campus. ITC serves as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and skill-building, providing resources and guidance to nurture student-led projects and technical growth across a variety of fields.

editThe ITC was established to foster a culture of technical exploration and innovation among students, encouraging them to expand their knowledge and apply their skills to real-world problems. Structure and Organization
editThe ITC encompasses several clubs, technical teams, and communities, each specializing in various aspects of technology and engineering:
- Technical Clubs and Labs: There are 7 technical clubs and 2 labs. These are Aeromodelling Club, BioX Club, Chemistry Club and ChemE TL, Electronics and Robotics Club, Energy Club, Krittika: The Astronomy Club, Tinkerer's Laboratory, Web and Coding Club. ITC oversees clubs focusing on fields such as web development, coding, robotics, aeromodelling, artificial intelligence, and electronics. Each club organizes events, skill-building sessions, expert talks, and hands-on workshops that allow students to gain practical experience and deepen their understanding of technical concepts.
- Technical Teams: The council supports specialized technical teams that participate in national and international competitions, develop advanced projects, and push the boundaries of engineering and technology. Notable teams include AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle), IITB Racing, Mars Rover Team, SSP(Student Satellite Program), Team Chemeca, Team Exofly, Team Genesis, Team Rakshak, Team Shunya, UMIC, and iGEM.
- Communities: ITC also facilitates communities that bring together students with shared technical interests, creating collaborative environments for innovation and knowledge exchange.
Cabinet Members
editThe ITC is led by a Cabinet consisting of four primary members, who manage the council’s activities and guide its initiatives:
- General Secretary Technical Affairs: The General Secretary oversees the council's overall activities and represents the council within the institute. Hardi Desai is the General Secretary Technical Affairs for the current tenure (2024-25).
- Projects and Tech Team Nominee: This position focuses on managing and coordinating the technical initiatives of the council, and Tech Teams. Manas Agrawal is the Projects and Team Team Nominee for the current tenure.
- Admin Nominee: The Admin Nominee is responsible for managing the council’s finances, including budgeting for events and projects. Prince Kumar is the Admin Nominee for the current tenure.
- PG Technical Nominee: The PG Technical Nominee handles technical opportunities for Postgraduates, promoting ITC's initiatives and engaging with stakeholders. Shivam Saran is the current PG Technical Nominee.
Key Initiatives and Activities
editThe ITC organizes more than 100 events annually, reaching over 10,000 students and offering 200+ summer projects. These initiatives include:
- Workshops and Skill-Building Sessions: ITC Clubs hosts workshops on a wide range of technical subjects, from programming and data science to robotics and machine learning, catering to different skill levels.
- Competitions and Hackathons: ITC Clubs organizes campus-wide competitions and hackathons, encouraging students to apply their skills to solve complex challenges within a limited timeframe. These events foster teamwork, critical thinking, and rapid innovation.
- Projects and Internships: The council supports various projects and summer internships, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in their areas of interest while collaborating with peers and mentors.

Some key accomplishments include high rankings in Formula Student events and international Capture The Flag (CTF) cybersecurity contests.
