In May 2022, the series was announced to be a new original animated series on HBO Max (later Max)[1] and Cartoon Network.[2][4][5]

In June 2023, an animatic for the series premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.[6] At San Diego Comic Con TVfest on February 7, 2024, the first episode of the series premiered.[1] At the AfroAnimation Summit, held from April 10 to 12, 2024 in Burbank, California, Gordon-Montgomery had a panel entitled "How I Got My Show Made: The Underdog Story of Invincible Fight Girl."[7]

An early series preview was released on July 25, 2024.[8][9] The event, hosted at Savannah College of Art and Design, also included a talk with Juston Gordon-Montgomery, the show's art director (David Depasquale), and supervising producer (Bryan Newton).[10][11]

The series will have half-hour animated episodes which will premiere on Adult Swim, then uploaded to Max the next day.[1]
