James Egan is an American musician. He is currently the trombonist of Catch 22 and was the former trombonist and trumpeter of Streetlight Manifesto. Egan was a former high school band teacher.
He played trombone in Catch 22 on the band's debut album Keasbey Nights released in 1998 and arranged the strings section on the track "It Takes Some Time" on the album Alone in a Crowd released in 2000. In 2002 Egan joined Streetlight Manifesto alongside Catch 22 frontman Tomas Kalnoky, bassist Josh Ansley, and former One Cool Guy members Pete Sibilia, Stuart Karmatz, and Dan Ross and played trumpet and trombone in the band's demo released in 2002. In 2003 Egan performed on the Streetlight Manifesto album Everything Goes Numb. Mike Soprano was recruited and Egan played trumpet only, since he could not play trumpet and trombone live at the same time. In 2004 he played trumpet in the Streetlight Manifesto version of Keasbey Nights. Egan left Streetlight in 2005 to focus on his family and music students. Later that year Jamie joined Suit of Lights and performed on the band's self-titled album[1]. In 2009 he played trumpet, trombone, flute, and saxophone on the band's album Bacteria. In 2019 he returned to Catch 22 to replace Dave Solomon.
