Jeanne-Marie is a series of children's books written and illustrated by Franco-American Francoise Seignobosc, under the mononym of Francoise; its titular character is a girl who lives in rural France. It was originally published by Charles Scribner's Sons between 1951 and 1963.

Background
editCreator Francoise Seignobosc (1897–1961) was born in the southern French village of Lodève in Hérault department; she started to draw at age five. Later on, she was educated at Sévigné College in Paris. She worked on the Jeanne-Marie series several years after her move to the United States during World War II.[1]
