Jeff Schiefelbein is an American businessman, entrepreneur, professional speaker, and current managing partner of Undivided Life,[1] a strategy and culture consulting firm based in Irving, Texas. He previously served as the Chief Culture Officer and co-founder of 5 from 2011-2022.[2]
Early Life and Education
editJeff Schiefelbein was raised outside of Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University for his undergraduate studies, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. During his college years, Schiefelbein started CARPOOL, the nation’s largest student-run safe ride program.[3]
For his success in launching CARPOOL and its subsequent life-saving impact, Schiefelbein received numerous awards and accolades including the National Daily Points of Light Award,[4] the Texas Governor’s Volunteer Service Award,[5] Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, the Best Individual Contribution to Campus Award, the Texas A&M 12 Under 12 Distinguished Young Alumni,[6] and many more. Additionally, Schiefelbein and CARPOOL were featured on ABC’s Volunteers Across America and the organization won national awards including the AAA Drinking and Driving Prevention Award.
Career
editAfter graduation, Schiefelbein began his professional career in the food industry at Frito Lay. One year later, he was recruited to join a hit off-Broadway production of Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was told entirely through disco music, and left the manufacturing floor to perform in New York City.
Following his return to Texas in 2004, Schiefelbein worked at First Choice Power as the Director for Commercial Sales for 6 years before getting promoted in 2010 to Vice President of Commercial Sales. In 2011, Schiefelbein helped to complete the successful sale of First Choice Power to Direct Energy. This prompted Schiefelbein and many of the other executives from First Choice Power to go out on their own and launch 5, an energy advisory and brokerage firm based in Irving, Texas.
During his tenure at 5, Schiefelbein served as the company’s co-founder and Chief Culture Officer. He was the primary architect in building a culture-centric strategy that promoted both healthy company growth and workplace excellence. Under Schiefelbein’s leadership, 5 won multiple awards, including Inc. 5000, Fortune Best Workplaces,[8] Aggie 100,[9] Entrepreneur 360, and more.[10]
At the end of 2022, Schiefelbein completed an exit from 5 and launched Undivided Life, a strategy and culture consulting firm based in Irving, Texas, with his business partner, Nick Bezner. Undivided Life’s mission is to “Make business human through strategy and culture consulting.” In his role at Undivided Life, Schiefelbein continues to challenge and influence thousands of leaders and students each year, speaking about company culture, personal development, leadership, innovation, and living an Undivided Life.
Schiefelbein co-hosts a religiously funny podcast called The BeatiDudes each week.[11] He also co-hosts a live radio show each month called Undivided Intention, broadcast on the Guadalupe Radio Network in North Texas.[12]
