Jeremy Yamaguchi is an American entrepreneur. He founded Lawn Love, an on-demand lawn-care marketplace that participated in Y Combinator and was later acquired. He then founded Cabana, a pool-service company that is the subject of a Harvard Business School case study.[1][2][3]
Early life
[edit]Yamaguchi is the son of missionaries. He was raised in Tokyo and also lived in Uganda, the Philippines, and Myanmar. He was homeschooled, completed high school at age 16, and did not attend college.[1]
Career

[edit]In 2009 he founded Golden Shine, a housekeeping marketplace. The company was sold to a private-equity search fund in 2013.[1]
Lawn Love
[edit]Yamaguchi started Lawn Love in San Diego in 2014. It matched homeowners with independent lawn-care providers and was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2014 batch.[4]
The company raised $1.9 million in November 2014.[5] Later reporting put total funding at $6.7 million.[2]
In November 2018 the *Union-Tribune* said Lawn Love was in 120 cities across 38 states and had about 100 employees.[1] It launched in Las Vegas in 2019.[6]
LawnStarter acquired Lawn Love in August 2021 in a cash-and-stock deal. The brands kept operating separately, and Yamaguchi stayed with the combined company.[2][7]
Later companies
[edit]In 2024 the *San Diego Business Journal* reported that Yamaguchi had launched Splash, a pool-service company, and raised $4.5 million in pre-seed funding.[8] The company was later rebranded Cabana. In 2025 Harvard Business School published a teaching case on Cabana.[3]
