Jesús Santos Aguilar Rodríguez (born March 27, 1996) is a Mexican professional mixed martial artist who competes in the flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Mixed martial arts career
editEarly career
editAguilar debuted as a professional MMA in 2015, and compiled a 3–1 record before competing for the Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC), one of the main organizations in Mexico.[1]
On February 29, 2020, Aguilar faced Antoine Hidrio for the UWC Flyweight Championship at UWC Mexico 21.[2] He won the fight via submission, and thus, took the title.[3] On September 4, Aguilar faced Edgar Chairez at UWC Mexico 23,[4] winning the fight via submission.
Later, he competed in the Combate Global promotion, where he scored two more submission victories using the guillotine. The first against Jaime Alvarez on May 7, 2021[5] and the second against Cristian Barraza on July 23 of that same year.
Dana White's Contender Series
editOn August 23, 2022, Aguilar was a contestant on Dana White's Contender Series in its sixth season. He faced Erisson Ferreira, whom he defeated via submission with a guillotine choke in the third round.[6] As a result, he earned a contract with the UFC.[7]
Ultimate Fighting Championship
editIn his debut fight, Aguilar faced Tatsuro Taira on February 3, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 218. He lost the fight via submission in the first round.[8]
Aguilar faced Shannon Ross on July 8, 2023, at UFC 290. He won the fight after knocking out Ross in just 17 seconds.[9]
Aguilar faced Mateus Mendonça on February 24, 2024, at UFC Fight Night 237.[10] He won the fight via split decision.[11]
